Guest Post:
Thanks
for letting me drop by today! If I’m a new to you author I write sexy, small
town, contemporary romance with a hint of quirky, a lot of heart and soul, and
very often, some culinary delights.
I’ve
just begun to write the third book in my new Sweet, Texas series (my new
release ANYTHING BUT SWEET is the first in the series) and, as always, I
thought about great opening lines and my favorite lines in general. We all have
our favorite authors and our favorite books. But have you ever read one line
and thought it was freaking awesome? Or funny? Or poignant?
I’ve
got a few:
From
ONE FOR THE MONEY by Janet Evanovich:
There are some men who enter
a woman’s life and screw it up forever.
From
THE BEST MAN by Kristin Higgins:
Microfiber Slim-Nation
undergarments and sweater-eating toilets were still better than angry wives and
adorable toddlers calling you a whore, right?
From
ON THE WAY TO THE WEDDING by Julia Quinn:
Clearly she was missing an
extremely important connecting vessel between her brain and her mouth, and
heaven only knew what might emerge from her lips next.
From LOVER ETERNAL by J.R. Ward:
Sometimes,
pretending to be normal was the very best antidote to weirdness.
And
one of my favorite lines from Charlotte Brooks, the heroine in my new release,
ANYTHING BUT SWEET:
Flirting was one thing, but
to tell a man she barely knew she wasn’t wearing any panties—yeah, that hardly
reeked of desperation.
Obviously
I have eclectic reading tastes, but I’m always looking for that one line that
just zings me.
What’s
your favorite line?

But Sweet
Sweet
Texas Series

Blurb:
A man
who doesn’t like change . . .
The Wilder family is something of a Sweet, TX institution: between their yearly BBQ blow-outs and their Hardware and Feed store, they’re an institution—an institution that ex-marine Reno Wilder has tried to preserve, in honor of his lost loved ones. But it seems like he’s the only one who’s got any respect left for traditions when a new TV makeover show rolls in to renovate Sweet to bring in more tourists. Everyone is pleased except Reno—and this cowboy is determined to keep everything just the way he likes it.

A woman who wants to change everything . . .
Inquisitive. Stubborn. Smart. Drop dead gorgeous. That would be makeover show host and designer, Charlotte Brooks—the woman Reno has declared war against. And yet, he can’t seem to keep away from her, or to get her off his mind. Charlotte isn’t afraid to back down from a challenge—of any kind—and she’s promised to prove to Reno that change can be sexy, hot, and very, very sweet, if Reno and Charli learn to let go of their pasts and grab hold of a future full of promise.

My Review:
I
adore stories like this, stories where taciturn stuck in their ways heroes get
blindsided by a heroine that’s just so different but actually exactly what the
hero needs.
Watching
Reno Wilder fall for Charli and the changes she’s making to his town was a real
treat. I loved that he was an ex-Marine, cowboy and shop owner, and sexy to
boot. Seriously he’s the perfect hero and so easy to see why Charli fell for
him so fast and so hard.
Charli
was a great woman, she’s sexy, looks like a city slicker yet all she wants is
to find a small town just like Sweet to call home. I loved the way that Reno
Wilder and the rest of the Wilder clan easily and quickly became her family.
Her childhood definitely led me to understand her yearning for a great place to
call home and a family to fill it with.
This
is a great story that I highly recommend. It was both a sweet and yet surprisingly
sexy story with a whole town of great characters, and two fun dogs that helped
their owners fall in love.
