Guest Post/Giveaway: Escape to My Arms by Heather Thurmeier

Meeting in the most unusual ways

Doesn't it seem like you only ever read or hear about couples who meet and subsequently fall in love in the most normal circumstances? Ask for dating advice and undoubtedly people will tell you to go to a bar, a bookstore or start a new class. I'm sure there are plenty of people who actually have found their soul mate in just that way, but I also think there are many other, more unusual ways to meet your special someone.

I probably believe that because I met my husband while driving... in two different vehicles. Yep, we met while “cruising.” Fate stepped in at the corner of College and Albert streets, turning the light before us red so we’d be forced to end up beside each other. That red light ultimately gave us the green light to fall in love. Corny, but totally true. Ask our friends who cruised with us that night if you don't believe me. 19 years later and we’re still in love and constantly amazed at how fate stepped in and changed our lives.

Sara and Dane meet in a pretty unusual way too. In ESCAPE TO MY ARMS, Sara first lays eyes on shotgun-toting Dane when he finds her hiding under a blanket in the back of her truck. And if that wasn't unusual enough, add in that the world as they know it has just ended as a pandemic sweeps into the country. Sara and Dane have to fight for their survival when fate pulls them together and away from the rest of civilization. But can love bloom in a world that’s dying?

Is it possibly to find love in an unlikely place when you're not looking for it? I think so. Do you? Did you meet your significant other in an unusual way? If you're still out there looking for Mr/Mrs Right, do you only look in the normal avenues or do you think love will find you when you least expect it? Tell me your thoughts in a comment!

Blurb:

Sara’s been preparing for this moment her whole life—she just never believed it would actually happen. With her bug-out bag and emergency food already in her truck, her only goal is to get to her family’s hidden bunker and wait out the pandemic that’s hit every major cruise ship port in the US. But her plan quickly falls apart. She’s out of gas, her route to the bunker is now a two-lane parking lot with no alternative in sight, and her only weapon is a pocketknife. For an experienced prepper, she’s made every rookie mistake.

Dane believes he’s safe in his cabin, off the beaten path and in the woods with his own source for water, electricity and an endless supply of food to hunt. After finding Sara stranded and alone, he’s suddenly not only providing for and protecting himself, but also the girl who wandered out of the woods and into his life. When looters come looking to take what he has, Sara and Dane’s only option is to make a run for their last hope—the bunker.

Can Sara and Dane find safety in each other’s arms and will they survive long enough to escape to a future together?
