Make Me Wet by Nara Malone - Interview/Giveaway

Make Me Wet
by Nara Malone

Seven tears cast upon the water summon the selkie, summon seal across the ocean, summon man from beast—liquid keys to break the curse. Freed one night every seven years, Ronin is doomed to repeat that cycle into eternity. Unless he can find a woman powerful enough to resist a selkie’s irresistible pheromones and sex magick.

Maille believes she lost reality between Maine and New Mexico. Between where she is now and where she should be. She believes in facts, not magick. But facts can’t explain how she wound up naked on a beach with the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on. Or how she knows in her bones that losing herself in the passion Ronin offers is a path to disaster.

It’s going to be a long, hot, wet night. Caught between sex magick and a sexy selkie, disaster is inevitable for Maille. To break the enchantment she has to rely on the oldest magick of all—the power of love-drenched hearts.

To get started can you tell us what you are working on or have coming out?

I’m always working on more than one project at a time. Currently, I’m working on an interactive short story, a game project, and I have just finished the draft of a romance novel I am considering turning into a story in which readers will get to choose their path and which hero, or heroes they want to see a happy ending with.

Several publishers are launching these choose-your-path stories that are similar to the Choose-Your-Own-Adventures popular with kids. It’s a genre I love reading and writing for, so I am happy to see the format for romance.

What made you realize that writing was for you? Do you write full time?

I think writing pursued me more than the other way around. I always have a story in my head. I think I have been mentally narrating my days in 3rd person POV since I was old enough to read. I finally surrendered to the writing and it turned into writing full time.

What is a typical day of writing like for you?

I like to write early in the morning. Before dawn early. Before the rooster wakes up early. It used to me a challenge I set myself, be at my desk before the rooster crows.

I draft a scene or two and when it is light I go for a run with my dog. The run is an important part of the process. I get my best ideas in those runs after the initial draft. Something about repetitive motion inspires creativity and shakes loose new ideas.

I come back, make changes, draft a new scene. Then take that scene for a walk or do chores like hang out the wash or weed the garden. Again, the activity is an important part of the creative process for me. By noon I’m usually finished the writing part of my writing day and spend the rest of the day doing other things that go along with the writing life.

Which genre(s) do you write and is one of them your favorite?

I write romance novels and adventure video games. Romance is my favorite and in the games I work on, romance is an element, but has so far not been the driving element it is in the novels.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend that they start with and why?

Make Me Wet is a great book to start with. It’s a fast read and has mystery, conflict, romance. I can’t think of a better introduction to my style of storytelling.

Whether it's a shifter romance exploring the primal power of the wild feminine, or BDSM romance where love digs into a character's shadows, Nara believes romance should open the door and push lovers into a new dimension: sexually, emotionally, and sometimes physically.
