Guest Post/Giveaway: Silent Surrender by Alexa Bourne

Ever felt like you had an angel and a devil sitting on your shoulders, each whispering their own version of encouraging words to you? That’s what it was like for me when I was working on my latest novella, SILENT SURRENDER, except I didn’t have an angel and a devil. I had the hero, Quinn, and the heroine, Meggie. You see, on a visit to Dublin Meggie met football coach Quinn, had a wild weekend with him and thought that would be the end of her whirlwind romance. When the writing began, Meggie whispered in my ear she needed a safe, secure Scotsman to be her hero.

Of course, Quinn had other ideas. He decided to pop onto my other shoulder and try to convince me to let him win Meggie’s heart. He suggested I set the story in Ireland so Meggie, the readers, and I could explore the rich culture of the Irish. Now I’ve been to the UK plenty of times so it’s easy for me to set stories there, but I’d only ever been to Ireland once and I didn’t feel ready to write about the streets of Dublin. Yet, I was willing to think about it.

Meggie, of course, freaked out. She whispered in my ear to send Quinn back to Dublin. But Quinn refused to leave my head. So I thought, why not make him a Scotsman? But he flatly refused that idea, reminding me he was a strong and proud Irishman and nothing I did could change that. Next I tried to bribe him to go away. I offered to give him his own story later with another woman. Still, he insisted he was the right man for Meggie.

Meggie remained on my other shoulder demanding I knock him off. She wanted nothing more to do with him. Her brothers would surely disown her for getting involved with an Irishman. What happened in Dublin needed to stay there.

So then I thought…What if I bring Quinn, my sexy, insistent Irishman, to Meggie’s Scottish Highland village? Once I accepted this idea the words began to flow. Oh yes, Meggie kept fighting me and Quinn kept encouraging me, but soon she grew quieter and didn’t yell so much in my ear. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Blurb:

Meggie MacDougall often dreams of Quinn O’Connell, the sexy Irish football coach who swept her off her feet in Dublin. But what happened in Dublin must stay there. She has responsibilities at home, and she refuses to fuel the gossip fires in Glenhalish.

Quinn has never forgotten Meggie and the explosive weekend they shared. Overwhelmed by memories of her passion, beauty, and zest for life, he jeopardizes his cushy career to find her and test the connection between them.

When Quinn arrives in her Highland village, Meggie is determined to ignore him. However, she isn't prepared for the claim he lays on her heart with his sexy charm and his tender soul.

Will pride and fear keep Meggie from embracing possibilities, or will Quinn's gentle persistence break down her defenses and lead her to a silent surrender?
