Blurb:
Sometimes
happily ever after…
Anthony
Hurst, Duke of Kingsborough knows the time has come for him to produce an heir.
But first he must find a bride. When he meets the most exquisite woman at his
masquerade ball, he thinks his search is over…until the breathtaking beauty
runs off. With few clues other than her figure, her scent, and the memory of
her kiss, Anthony must find his mystery lady.
…needs
a little bit of help.
Isabella
Chilcott can scarcely believe it: she is finally at the Kingsborough Ball. As a
child, she dreamed of dancing a waltz here and now, thanks to a gorgeous gown
she’s found in the attic, Isabella is living her fairytale fantasy. And she’s
waltzing with the Duke of Kingsborough himself! But she must escape before he
discovers her secrets…for she is not who she pretends to be, and falling in
love with Prince Charming is the last thing she can allow herself to do…
My Review:
A
strong showing for the start of a new Regency series from Sophie Barnes, The Trouble with Being a Duke is a story
full of entertaining and beautiful descriptions.
Anthony
Hurst, who is the Duke of Kingsborough is ready to find a bride. He sees the
perfect woman at a Masquerade ball. They hit it off right away, only to find
her to be a party crasher who is a commoner. Isabella Chilcott is bound and
determined to help her family even if it means marrying someone she doesn’t
love.
I
loved these characters, they were complex and very likeable. I found the whole
story enchanting, there was this wonderful feeling of an updated fairy tale.
Anthony’s
persistence and the way he fought for their love and wanted to love her without
changing her, made him a very noble and endearing man. Isabella’s family has so
many secrets that threaten their happiness and watching them overcome
everything for love made this a new favorite story.

The cover of this book is enchanting--the perfect foil for a fairytale of a novel. :-) And I do love a Duke who can overcome his own importance for love.
ReplyDeleteHere I am again, Sophie! I sure do like the masquerade part of this story...love the idea of meeting and falling in love without knowing who the other person is...until they are unmasked. Talk about fairytales coming true! Love this Cinderella-like story theme. jdh2690@gmail.com
