Sinful Rewards And Making Erotic Romance Writers Blush

I’ve written over seventy erotic romance stories. I’ve written MF, MM, MFM, MFMMMM, sex with an android, with partially shifted beings, with voyeuristic billionaires (grins – just throwing that in there to see if you’re paying attention). My characters have done the deed almost everywhere in almost every position.

I’m also lucky to have some of the best reading buddies in the world. They’ll message or email me about sex scenes, sexual preferences, how big certain body parts should be or how many appendages my alien heroes should have. I love this. I encourage it. I might even use the information in my next story.

Sheri V knows this so I suspect she’d figured she’d stump me by asking what still makes me blush. I must have seen and heard about everything, right? If I haven’t written about it, one of my buddies has. Surely I wouldn’t continue to turn red.

If I didn’t have a complexion more suitable for one of my five redheaded siblings, I’d agree. But the unhappy fact is… I blush about EVERYTHING. If I’m happy, I go pink. If I’m excited about a topic, I become flushed. If I see Nutella (i.e. hazelnut chocolate heaven in a jar), I blush. This is one of the reasons I don’t lie… because I can’t. I turn beet red.

Do I get embarrassed? Absolutely. When we recently went to a fancy restaurant and my dear sweet father-in-law told me loudly in gloriously graphic detail about his prostate procedure, which involved putting a tiny camera up his man parts, my face turned crimson. The fresh-faced, barely-out-of-her-teens waitress waiting to take our orders went an interesting shade of red also. If you guessed I didn’t order the sausage, you’d be correct.

Coming from the farm, talking about sex doesn’t normally bother me (as long as this talk doesn’t happen at a very quiet ritzy restaurant – grins). When you grow up around heated discussions about whether or not the size of a bull’s man parts influences how many calves he’ll sire, the participants being your pastor, your grandfather and your third grade teacher, nothing much unsettles you.

But that doesn’t mean I won’t blush while talking about it.
